Opened 27th November 1890 as Munts Hall (a variety hall), becoming the Grand Hall of Varieties on 22nd October 1894. The venue became Imperial Picture theatre 1914 with a showing of "Moths". 800 seats. Renamed simply as "Imperial" in 1955. The Imperial closed in 1973, showing Innocent Bystanders and Crucible of Terror, then had a name change and re-opened as The Ruby (apparently named after the manager's wife) with 450 seats. This incarnation lasted until 1981 and closed suddenly with Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981. Demolished soon after closing, it is now a bank.
